Getting there
Fly into El Dorado International Airport (BOG). If you can, arrive by Saturday so you have a full day to settle in before the wedding.
For the airport, book a transfer, use the official taxi queue, or order through an app. Bogotá is high in the mountains, so bring layers, a rain jacket and sunscreen.

Villa de Leyva
If you’d rather explore a historic town, Villa de Leyva makes a beautiful day trip from Bogotá. Go for the cobblestoned colonial center and enormous Plaza Mayor; the surrounding Boyacá countryside also has vineyards, fossils and archaeological sites.
A few extra days
For a short side trip, flying usually makes the most sense. Use a reputable tour company if you’re heading somewhere remote.

Staying safe
We’re not taking you anywhere dangerous, but a few simple precautions can help you feel more confident while you’re in Bogotá.
For the wedding, we’ll organize transportation from Bogotá to the venue and back.
Book your ride
Ask your hotel for a car, use the airport’s official taxi queue, or order through an app. Don’t hail a cab on the street at night.
Keep valuables out of sight
Leave expensive jewelry at home. Don’t walk around with your phone or camera out when you aren’t using it.
Use reputable tour companies
Book excursions through your hotel or an established operator, especially for day trips outside Bogotá.

Before you fly

It should be valid for your stay and have at least one blank page. Six months of validity is recommended.

Colombian immigration may ask to see proof of onward or return travel.
